Reading Dog Man by @davpilkey.bsky.social for the first time (I know I should hav read this sooner) and I have so many thoughts! Spoilers ahead!

1) Love this art style! I had no idea the whole book is like this. I’ve read Captain Underpants (also amazing) and love how this really looks like how kids draw. I definitely see my younger comic making self in this art style.

2) how did I make the mistake before reading the book that the vertical lines between the chin and shirt aren’t beard stubble, but stitches?!? Clearly I think too logically like an adult and always thought it was interesting that Dog Man had some stubble.

3)I love how words are crossed out! It really mimics the comic making by kids process.

4) Shoutout for using the word “supa”. I remember overusing that word in 5th grade!

5) just like Captain Underpants it includes “Flip-o-Rama” which is such a creative and fun touch to reading

6) 33 seconds! So short ! So precise!

7)the friendship between the police Chief and dogman is 🥹❤️

8) I love how there are highly specific types of jails in this book

9)This teachers note to the parents is hilarious!

10) love the Snoopy reference!

11) The literal jokes in this books is reminiscent of Amelia Bedilia.

12) I lost it when I saw this Star Wars reference!

13) Love how dogman’s dog side helps to save the day!

14) who put onions in here 🥹

15) love the honesty, the type, the everything

16) such great tips on how to draw invisible petey!!

17) love these book blurbs!
