After the KNP complex fire, as soon as the park was opened to the public, many trees were gone. But a particular sycamore tree grove got my attention. I wondered if the trees would come back. Every time I drive there now I observe how they have done. Many have revived, but some have not.

The KNP Complex Fire was a significant wildfire that occurred in Sequoia National Park and the Sequoia National Forest in California from September 9 to December 16, 2021, burning a total of 88,307 acres and resulting in the death of approximately 1,300 to 2,400 large giant sequoias.

The fire was ignited by lightning and was declared fully contained after extensive firefighting efforts and rainfall.
