We covered all major energy sectors. The government's current policies leave a large gap in climate action. It must also phase out fossil fuel exports. As the govt leading #COP31 negotiations, Australia must meet the commitment it has already made to a transition away from fossil fuels.

In the power sector, the government needs to increase its renewable energy targets to 87% of renewable generation nation-wide by 2030, 96% by 2035, and 100% by 2050.

A fossil free Australia would also need the government address the serious flaws in the Safeguard Mechanism,by converting it into a proper compliance-based emissions trading system with a declining baseline and constraining the use of offsets. Full report here climateanalytics.org/publications...
