I have been very supportive of you @mayor.nyc.gov but this is a complete and total fuck up.This is why many Jews just don’t and won’t trust you. The first paragraph was all that was needed today. The rest could’ve been left for another day. It comes across as equivocation and damages DEMs everywhere

Your comment exemplifies why the I-P conflict continues: Each side prefers to nurse its own grievances rather than recognizing each other’s suffering and working to end it. But that’s just one Jew’s (my) opinion.

Wrong. All I said is that today is the day to recognize what happened on 10 7 without equivocation. That doesn’t diminish what’s happened in Gaza. There may be two sides to the I-P conflict, but there are not two sides to what happened on 10 7.

Mamdani didn’t equivocate. He said that the Oct 7 attacks were “horrific war crimes”. He didn’t say they were justified in any way. All he did was state the obvious truth that Palestinians are suffering horribly from Israel’s response. It’s never the wrong time to acknowledge people’s suffering.

And today, the day, that Jews around the world are mourning the largest slaughter of Jews since the holocaust is not the day to equivocate
