Momma always said: Just because something is more affordable upfront, doesn't mean it is more affordable for the long run 😘 Q: Do consumers know how many items require the same rare minerals/raw materials as EV batteries? Q: Do consumers understand how how toxic (lithium, etc) mining is? 👶👧🧔‍♂️👩‍🦳👴🌎💦

news.climate.columbia.eduThe Paradox of LithiumThe clean energy transition depends heavily on lithium, but mining this element is not “clean.” We must not fall into the same traps from which we are trying to free ourselves.

I am not only an advocate for responsible manufacturing & consumerism: I grew up around the steel industry, and worked in it (and the industries you work w through being a steel manufacturers sales rep) for a handful of years- everything from the energy industry to auto to breweries, and more 😉

theconversation.comThe race to mine critical minerals for AI and clean energy is creating ‘sacrifice zones’ that harm water and health of world’s poorThe rapid expansion of critical mineral extraction is trading away human and ecological well-being for technological breakthroughs. There are ways to fix this.

There are more costs than just the financial costs for (EV) consumers. >> Humans need to stop w all or nothing and use all options, esp since different types of eco friendly autos come out every year: Check out what Japan has been working on!
