Americans voted for chaos and lo and behold they got chaos. You be mad to work for the federal government or be dependent on federal funding. Take the money and run because this is not the end of the federal chaos that is coming America's way. Dysfunction will be the norm.

It’s not buyout. A buyout is 12 months severance with more added past the age of 40. Elon didn’t pay his employees when he offered a buyout. This is a slap in the face. Fed Workers, remember the oath you took.

CNN, get it right: Federal employees are not being offered a BUYOUT! They are being offered a deferred resignation and no guarantee that they will be paid if they accept. OPM's 'offer" was also not sent on an authorized gov't email system, so there are other issues involved as well.

It’s not a buyout - why is this word being used?? It’s nothing more than an exemption from in-person work requirements on the agreement that the employee leaves on 9/30. They still have to work. That’s not a buyout.

It’s what we call in Australia a forced redundancy pay out. They’d rather workers are sacked and out of employment than have hybrid workforce doing the job. It’ll backfire especially in the IT field where it’s hard to replace experienced professionals.

In a buyout, they pay you a sum of money to resign. What trump offers if you resign is to keep working and keep receiving your salary until September 30 but you don’t have to return to the office if you’re a remote worker.

Senator Tim Kaine@kaine.senate.gov

Trump sows chaos in federal workforce then says “resign within a week and I’ll give you 7 months severance.” Don’t fall for it!  Trump told innumerable contractors he’d pay—then stiffed them. He has no authority to promise severance pay. Wait him out! apnews.com/article/trum...

It isn’t a buyout and it isn’t a severance offer. Please stop calling it that. Anyone who accepts this offer still has to continue working until their resignation effectiveness date. The only thing they get is an exemption from the return to office requirement.

This is BS. They are offering a buy-out along with a threat! They would like all federal workers to go, so that they can step in and destroy the departments that these workers have tirelessly worked for years. This is just part of the "turning democracy into a dictatorship".

They are already back. There’s so much misinformation. 40% of Feds WFH years b4 the pandemic due to overcrowding & inadequate buildings many filled with mold. The solution was telework vs. fixing the bldgs. The only ppl still teleworking r those with no bldg to go to. This whole thing is a farce.

I'm asking people to share this, if you would be so kind - I can't take the lying about fed employees. This in particular bothers me b/c Jodi Enrst & the Administration keep saying only 6% of us are in the office which is not true - according to the govts own data. Why lie about this? Why attack us?

When did CNN become Trump supporters? I watched briefly tonight but had to turn it off as I wasn’t sure the info was true. I’ve watched you since the start and never worried about this till the last several days.

Uhm "offering" resignations... i.e. they give up their benefits and retirement. Not ideal for any person and I don't know that 10% of that workforce is ignorant enough to take this shady scam deal. Trump doesn't keep his word unless it directly benefits him or his fascist regime.

@cnn.com - Please correct the headline. The email went to almost ALL of the federal workforce - including those who do not do remote work or telework. Only a small percentage of the workforce works remotely. The email is more nefarious than simply offering an out to remote workers.

Seems like the government is trying to lighten the office load and maybe increase the home office turnover rate. Who knew remote work could lead to a new career path? How many are ready to cash out rather than clock in?
