Has anyone switch from #rails to #laravel? What made you switch and anything you miss from Rails? With the influx of both VC funding and new devs coming in the Laravel space, it’s hard not to compare and build where the community is 👀

I switched many years ago. At the time I only missed Ruby over PHP. Since then I've tested out Rails a couple of times and I actually prefer PHP's easy to read style over Ruby's syntactic sugar. The one thing that really keeps me stuck in Laravel though are all the official packages.

I’m in the same boat initially where when I’ve tried, I just feel so much better reading and writing Ruby. I’m sure it’s familiarity. I feel the Gems are so rich in the Rails landscape, but Horizon and the new Nightwatch just look incredible. What official packages have you felt the difference?

Horizon is great, and make queues super simple. Having several options for front-ends (Jetstream), great performance monitoring (Telescope and Pulse), stuff for otherwise complex things like search (Scout) and real-time web sockets (Reverb) all in an easy to setup environment (Herd) is unbeatable.
