It is interesting watching them try out all kinds of different stuff to try to stop everyone from getting mad. I swear, everyone getting really mad at a tech company really works. It’s one of the few things that does.

Deep down the people who work there just want to be held in high esteem. They want everyone to say “thank you for changing the world with your wonderful products” and they don’t want to be yelled at.

They desperately want Terence Tao to say “great job, engineers. Your AI is smarter than me, which, in a way, makes you smarter than me. While this will be quite disruptive to me personally, I have no choice but to respect it.”

Yes - I just wrote a tweet about this, but we were bearish in on a rigorous 4-D YM construction. Note that this still doesn’t prove mass-gap (the thing the community is actually clueless about) and so it doesn’t solve the YM millennium prize problem.

Or maybe it will be like me and my wife, who are quite surprised that ETH is false and that AI can prove it. (I once wrote a paper with hardness result based on ETH.) Lots to learn from new techniques that AI is discovering.

I don’t disagree. I’d love to hear your take on this result once you’ve had a chance to unpack and “digest it”, as they say.
