I've tasked Claude with reverse engineering the protocol that the proprietary Libratone app connects to my smart speaker. To kickstart it, I went in and inventoried all the microchips in the smart speaker, and established that it's based on a Qualcomm CSR8670.

I can hear random beeps and boops coming from the speaker right now as it tries various documented commands over the Bluetooth connection.

Well, it seems like the only commands enabled are the ones required by the app. That's sensible. And disappointing.

Tragic: the DSP is burned into the speaker, and you can't update it OTA. So yeah, I've got a bunch of commands I can run remotely. But the speaker is incredibly uncustomisable.
