We've been looking back over 2025-26 & it's been another good year. Now we share our annual report connectedbydata.org/... 🧑‍🏫 A major focus for our work this year has been on worker power, AI in the public sector & the intersection between the two, with a particular focus on education. 🧵 (1/7)

🗣️ We ran a Design Lab in collaboration with the DfE , which led to the “Have Your Say” project. This was a distributed dialogue with over 1000 students across 23 settings about the use of generative AI in education that shaped the DfE’s updated Generative AI product safety standards. (2/7)

🤝 We continued to engage constructively with teams across the UK public sector including running monthly community-of-practice sessions to connect public-sector practitioners; and, supporting the development of the Data and AI Ethics Framework. (4/7)

🌎 At an international level, we worked with ParticipationAI on a set of principles for public participation in AI Procurement. We have also supported ISWE to develop a fundraising plan for a Global Citizens’ Assembly on AI and kicked-off a campaign for a Citizens Track on AI Governance. (5/7)

🪧 The Data & AI Civil Society Network we initiated is now over 140 participants with new subgroups emerging for key topics such as digital ID. 🔴 We are pleased to have been able to co-convene a second Participatory AI Research & Practice Symposium, alongside the India AI Impact Summit. (6/7)
