Re: LAFD Budget Seeing City officials in the press ignore the severe impacts of these budget cuts, especially the ones covering for their poor budget decisions to cut a majority of departments' budgets & even AFTER Chief Crowley told them about the impacts these cuts have had, is DISGRACEFUL.

They keep saying "BUT LAFD GOT A RAISE IN NOVEMBER!" If these fires happened in August or October, would these same City officials then admit that LAFD's budget got cut in July where 61 civilian support positions were eliminated and sworn payroll and expenses were reduced?

Btw the money that they keep saying is being held for LAFD's raises are in this "separate account" HASN'T even been transferred to the LAFD's operating budget as of this date! How do we know all this? Because we're the City's Accountant! We know the City's budget and finances.

We didn't want to get into the City's budget and finances during these times, but to see City officials come out and ignore the Fire Chief's warnings/impacts of the department's budget cuts made us jump in. We can explain how all this works and how we got here, just scroll down.

BTW, what's not being talked about is that Chief Crowley requested $914,975,620 for this current fiscal year's budget which started last July. INSTEAD, the Fire Department got $819,637,423, a budget cut of $17,553,814 from their prior year's adopted budget of $837,191,237.

After we're through these disastrous fires, we will hold a whole day's worth of our usual educational sessions where we educate people about the City's budget and finances. That's what we're known for. We will make sure to invite all these City officials too.

Our understaffed Office got our budget cut too. This eliminated 27 positions - mainly accountants who do payroll & pay the bills! We're projected to overspend now because the City didn't account for our raises. Because of that, we have to find funds to transfer into our Office's operating budget.

Sure seems that a reasonable thought would be seeing insurance companies cancel fire policies would be a sign to throw as much as you can afford into fire services and ensuring infrastructure can handle serious fires…
