If you've lost power due to the wildfires around LA and are using a portable generator, remember to keep it outdoors and make sure your carbon monoxide alarms are working.

One portable generator can produce as much carbon monoxide as hundreds of cars. Carbon monoxide can kill in minutes and is a gas you can't see or smell. In a crisis people are not always thinking clearly. Reach out to your friends/relatives and make sure they remember to put their generator outside.

The most common symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are headache, dizziness, weakness, upset stomach, vomiting, chest pain, and confusion. If you are running a generator and feel yourself experiencing any of these, get outside immediately. You may only have minutes.
