You rarely miss, but that is clearly a radioactive or green-fluorescent protein mutated trout and not the illustrious flashlight fish (pictured here credit: Georgia Aquarium).

Appreciate you holding us accountable over the fish we used in this graphic. We did search extensively for a stock photo of a legitimate flashlight fish but could not find one and had to settle. Rare that we need such a specific photo at a specific angle, but we will try to do better in the future.

Thank-you for being receptive to feedback. You've inspired me to do a copyright-free photo shoot of a flashlight fish next time I pull one up from the deep. The fact remains, buy a real flashlight folks!

I say it every single time I have the chance, get a real flashlight. No hurricanes up here but tornado season knocks out the power now and then and that dinky phone light is nothing. Also you may need that phone battery for more important stuff. Conserve it for communication!

Somehow my flashlights never have batteries when I grab them. Fortunately flashlights without batteries are in the same drawer as batteries. Which is also the drawer with headlights that work, and a bike headlight that may be even better than any flashlight I own. Lots of options folks!
