I thought it was finally time to play with random until I found out that random-item() is not included and there is no support for the "by X" argument. I need the full package for my crazy ideas 😖

Chrome does support the step argument, their implementation of random() should be pretty complete and up-to-date with the spec. ... well, the editor's draft spec (drafts.csswg.org/css-values-5...). The latest published version is outdated, it looks like (www.w3.org/TR/css-value...).
