1) In the research I’ve been doing for updating my #emacs config, I found this Reddit post I forgot I saved a while back: www.reddit.com/r/emacs/s/H4... I tried this approach before, I may do it again! You can have your config files accurately reflect what is installed with ‘package.el’

2) This can be done by maintaining the list ‘package-selected-packages’ manually, calling ‘package-install-selected-packages’ to install from list, calling ‘package-autoremove’ to remove packages no longer in the list, and then only use ‘use-package’ for configuration. #emacs

Not sure if you would care, but elpaca doesn't support lockfiles unlike straight. I used elpaca before jumping to the nix emacs-overlay, it worked fine for me at the time, but now I would feel a bit nervous updating my packages if I didn't have an easy way to roll back.

Oh that's right, I totally forgot about that! I agree with your nervousness. I've always been frustrated with emacs dependency management (with rollbacks) either being using `straight` with a lock file, or committing all installed packages along with your config.
