What happen to completion models like `text-davinci-003`? Why does no one train or release these types of models anymore? Maybe I am just romanticizing early models, but I recall this model being much more steerable that chat models because there was no bias to responding conversationally

Great observation. I feel like so many have gone private and in the cloud like Supermaven. Perhaps they have made a judgement that human intervention won't be needed eventually 🤷‍♂️. I think that'd be wrong. 👍

Could be. Funny enough I didn't actually think about code completion models when I wrote this but those are the most prevalent remaining ones and the completions and usually pretty short. I remember having some complex prompts/rules that davinci-003 followed very well.
