Ugggghhhhh FML fine. After a few days/weeks/months of denial and avoidance I've realised Next.js will continue to be a PITA for the rest of my life; I need to move my digital garden to a more robust and appropriate web framework. And Astro is the obvious choice right now.

Obvs I should never have build a personal blog on Next.js in the first place (it's overkill and not designed for that), but I was young and naïve and didn't know I would come to loathe SSR with a passion. ANYWAY, excited to be free to write vanilla JS again and focus on content, not debugging

When I first joined the web development community I was confused why everyone else was so grumpy and grumbly about "the pace of change" and instantly skeptical/bitter about new frameworks and libraries and npm packages... I am now these people.

Yeah, after getting into local-first movement I tried to move to Obsidian. Wanted offline functionality and control. But after a month or two I gave up and went back to Tana because quality diff (for me) was night and day. Obsidian vs. Tana ways of thinking / working quite distinct. Couldn't switch

I just explored, but also joined 2+ years ago in early beta when it was pretty janky and no one knew how to use it and there were no docs 😅 chaotic but fun. I think if you search now there’s tons of people teaching it on YouTube.
