the blatancy of it immediately made me cringe, but then I recognized that is a flaw with myself. what queer people go through is just reality and it's cringe for me to feel cringe about it. it's internalized transphobia from my childhood and that's not okay.

i totally get now why people are mad about it. it's frankly incredible that it's actually causing SO many people to be mad about it. that means it will only succeed. it's going to be one of the best pieces of media on earth. FUCK TRANSPHOBES.

it feels obvious in how it's pulling on anime, retro, etc. tropes and that type of storytelling, which for some reason i've assumed is not a good thing since it's "cheap" or "easy" but that's also maybe the point? it's just a medium to storytell through. what makes it cool isn't those--

individual pieces, but the combination of those pieces and the way the story carries through it. i am a sucker for all of it though. but on top of that the execution of it and leaning into the video game/anime humor made it really shine. it's a cozy place where I feel welcomed and appreciated.
