Finished two sequels to books I loved - Liane Moriarty's Big Little Truths & Janice Hallett's The Silent Appeal. There's a central mystery in both (BLT - who sent the severed finger to the school in suburban Sydney? TSA - who was the killer during the play?) but they're also about communities

Big Little Truths revisits the Pirriwee women from Big Little Lies - Celeste, Madeline, Jane, Bonnie (plus Renata with a beefed-up role), 10 years after the killing of Celeste's abusive husband

I thought was a compelling portrait of the nature of being a woman around 50 in the 2020s: protecting your teens even when they are pulling away from you, dealing with parents who might have dementia and spouses with cancer, figuring out who's a predator in a world full of scammers

Meanwhile, The Silent Appeal brings back the overly attached Izzy to join a cast where Kevin McDonald and Sarah Jane McDonald are putting on Agatha Christie's "The Hollow". As with the Appeal and the Christmas Appeal, I enjoyed how every little thing fits together
