This part of @jeremycliffe.bsky.social's op-ed is key. Our centrist leaders are being outflanked in anti-Trumpism by the far right. "That poses a challenge for centrist and progressive parties, which could conceivably find themselves outflanked by the right in their opposition to Trump."

I wrote about this phenomenon, and the risk it presents, last month. We've got the AfD tapping into the now-widespread anti-American sentiment by calling for the expulsion of US troops from Germany. Meanwhile mainstream politicians and the MSM are silent.
