Every new movie has people saying “go in without reading or knowing anything about it.” Feels like a truly great movie would still be great even if you’d read every spoiler, plot synopses, and twist.

I can’t say I agree—the movie will remain great, but your first exposure to it may not be ideal. I generally try not to know much going in, because the surprise is part of the delight. I don’t mean a plot twist; every aesthetic aspect of a movie has the potential to catch you beautifully unprepared.

That might be the right nuance. Not that it wouldn’t be better, but that it would remain great. I also think “go in without knowing anything” is a marketing crutch, whether people know they’re doing that or not. “Don’t attempt to gain any information to help determine whether you might like this.”
