It's been 30+ years, and I still have a variety of aches and pains that resulted from my high school football and wrestling coaches pressuring me to play while injured.

I threw my back out completely doing a fireman's carry at a wrestling camp when I was 15. My coach wouldn't let me sit out, and I ended up wrestling hurt for like six hours a day for the next two days. My back has never been the same.

A lot of this comes down to me being a passive kid who wasn't going to defy one of my coaches. But my coaches *knew* I was a passive kid, and they should have been helping me make better decisions for my long-term wellbeing.

Ugh! That sounds REALLY frustrating! I’m sorry you had to deal with that! I had no idea that you used to be a wrestling/football player back in your youth, though. That’s really cool!! I just wish that you had a more pleasant experience!
