I am one of those Travis County residents. I got out this morning and voted. I figured I'd do it on the first day in case someone gave me static about it. Fortunately, it went as smoothly as ever. I didn't even wait long (I used the county's wait time map to pick a low-wait spot). 🙂

Voted this morning, about 1/2 hour in line. Saw a steady stream of folks with mail ballots* surrendering them to vote early in person. Maybe they didn’t trust their mail ballots would be properly counted. *In Texas have to apply for mail ballots, and be 65+, sick, or disabled.

⚠️ THREATS TO THE VOTE: Texas’ top election denier, its GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, and its most powerful attorney are all the same person: Attorney General Ken Paxton (R).

⚠️ Texas Democrats could win a statewide election for the first time in decades. While Paxton could refuse to accept a loss, Texas legal experts say they’re confident the courts would protect the election outcome against any bad-faith efforts to overturn it.

🚧 VOTING ROADBLOCKS: Hundreds of thousands of Texas voters were missing from county rolls because the state’s Department of Public Safety did not properly process their voter registration applications.
