I think it's NOT a coincidence that people's sudden intolerance (in the 2020s) for flawed, complex, or stubborn characters that don't turn around & completely change themselves to resolve a story sprouts up as everyone seems incapable of reviewing a game w/o spending half the time detailing its plot

Oh yeah it would have been SO MUCH BETTER for Lt. Williams to end the Halo bonus missions coming to appreciate Master Chief and the whole child soldier Spartan program and be hunky dory like some children's cartoon special? Let's talk about that- Oh I see now we're retelling the whole plot

Absolutely valid points. Not trying to argue. But I am a stickler for old halo lore. No one outside the O.N.I. would have known about the child soldier program at this point. Also now I wish Karen Travis had been brought onboard to write halo after Reach…

OK sure, but there was still massive disdain for the Spartans/Spartan program by ODSTs early on and these particular ones had been completely abandoned (effectively) by the military and only happen to be getting rescued by mistake. (1/2)

Needing to turn every piece of video content about a game into a massive play by play of the game's whole story feels like a massive, honestly *terrifying* literacy problem. One could chicken-and-the-egg debate if it's a literacy problem on behalf of the creators or viewers, but I think it's both.

If you think Let's Play series are silly, boy are abridged Let's Plays masquerading as reviews/video essays/critical discussions even sillier. Because then not only has the viewer spent their time watching junk instead of playing, they now get nothing close to the full picture!
