One of the interesting observations that I had about my dev/computer usage in the past few years is that I became entirely OS/ecosystem-agnostic. There is absolutely no point in being super-attached to one platform, especially with a lot of tools now running really well cross-plat.

Even though it's not apparent to us I tend to think the underlying platforms tend to aid and hinder user agency in various subtle ways, that there's only more compounding/relevance than ever. We just don't really see it. We don't know what taxes we pay.

OS maybe not super strong an influence since OS'es are so so weak, offer so so little. We haven't had a try hard OS since like KDE nepomuk & what not. Which hilariously sort of lives on in GNOME of all places lol.

I also got very comfortable with Linux for basically everything. Fable/Opus are really good about solving basically every problem I had that forums failed to solve. bsky.app/profile/den....

For the past few months, I've been almost exclusively running everything in my life on Linux. Claude has been a massive unlock in helping me customize it and diagnose emerging issues quickly, and it doesn't feel as bad as it was even just a few years back. And surprisingly, it... just works?
