I have to be blunt. If this mission happens Chun will die on it. Starship is beyond ill equipped to do something like this, and after some of the decision making in the leadup to his prior SpaceX flight, I doubt he would be prepared in the slightest to handle a spacecraft in an emergency.

SpaceX scrubbed its Starship test today due to technical difficulties, but a different sort of launch took place: The kickoff of crypto investor Chun Wang's campaign to ride Starship to Mars and back. Will his plan get off the ground? Past precedents aren't encouraging. cosmiclog.com/2026/05/21/c...

I don’t say this because I believe that going to Mars is impossible, far from it, I say this because I’ve seen this story play out before. The moment someone decides to put schedule and cost over readiness and reliability is always the day someone dies.

Fram2 was only possible because it used technology that was already established as working, we have several missions planned for starship and no vehicle to deliver. Expecting this to go the same route as dear moon, gain traction, stall, get hyped again, then get cancelled when tech doesn't deliver.

Even Tito's mission seems unlikely to happen.. Investing your life into a vehicle that isn't planned to get into orbit let alone mars is a strange decision.

I hope they do prove the technology sooner rather than later, but V2 was a disaster for them and they don't have much hardware to show for Artemis which is already delayed to a point of no return 😐
