This was epic

50 years ago on Saturday 11th September 1976, this infamous issue of ACTION comic appeared on UK shelves. The comic was suspended by the publisher weeks later following a moral panic whipped up by groups offended by its supposedly anti-police sentiment. Art by the late, great Carlos Ezquerra.

Ironically, the panic around Action created an even darker batch of UK creators.…unlike the US Comics Code Authority which severely damaged the comic industry for decades

Censorship board caused by 50s moral panic. Google it and the book Seduction of the Innocent by Fredric Wertham. I think you’d find it all very interesting.

I only remember the pocket size world war 2 ones. Where they called Commando? Typical lines like "Gott in Himmel, run it's ze Tommy's. Fantastic artwork though. I was more into Beano & Dandy then 2000AD.
