The book has twenty chapters, each of which showcases a current debate in the philosophy of mind (without presuming any background in philosophy or cognitive science). The twenty chapters are also divided into five parts, each of which works as a readymade course unit.

Chapter 2 features Madeleine Ransom and Adrienne Prettyman arguing about whether people perceptually experience doghood and bearhood and other high-level properties.

Chapter 3 features Umrao Sethi defending naive realism about perception even while allowing that people can hallucinate in ways that feel exactly the same as perceiving. Adam Pautz gives a representationalist response.
