Neighbor has a tree with this lovely fruit. I've never seen it before. I think it's a Kousa Dogwood?

Looks like a kousa dogwood to me! So alien looking. Is that edible? Or is the flower crammed in there?

Huh. It IS EDIBLE. “Most users on Reddit agree the soft inner pulp tastes sweet and tropical, often compared to a mix of persimmon, peach, mango, or apricot.” I don’t know if that would make me try it, but maybe grilled?
