the other tragic aspect how the film bolstered the 90s wave of transphobia…like I respect they did try a little (Jodie foster’s character pointing out the killers psychology do not match the diagnosis of gender dysphoria in the DSM) but many who worked on the film have significant regrets on that

yeah it always annoys me when a minority is made a villain in popular media because i know the general public will never think critically about it and it kinda manufactures consent for how people perceive us even if it isn't the original intention

it's kinda the environment that bred the killer to have such a dehumanised view of women in the first place to even do what he did, like he's the final horrifying stage of a process that started with the average man and how they view and treat women
