Once complications set in then medical treatment is essential. I believe they stopped paying for medical treatment for anyone. This is why a child died of Sickle cell anaemia and another came close with appendicitis! From what we have heard, are guards even going to try?

Except the measles vaccine on its own doesn’t prevent measles. The vaccine just starts the process of your immune system learning what the enemy “looks like” so it can respond faster next time. That takes about 10-14 days.

I’m one of those rare 3 in 100 who was vaccinated as a child, yet contracted measles when I was 15. It was AWFUL!! 105 temp, deep bronchial cough, vomiting….. Never had them again. Just fucking vaccinate your children!! Don’t put them through that hell!!

After years of arguing with antivax friends, discussing with MD family members, and reading about immunology (actual books), I know just enough to be wrong and believe that I’m right. The correct answer is MMR shots within 72 hours of exposure can mitigate measles‘ impact. Thanks for the prompt.

Yup I believe the immune system starts making antibodies within a couple of days, so better than nothing unless you’ve already been infected - but actually given it is safe to vaccinate in the face of an outbreak, maybe it even helps those who might have already been infected? Paging an immunologist
