Steam Controller ran out faster than we anticipated, and we hate that not everyone who wanted one was able to get it. We’re working on getting more in stock and will have an update on expected timeline soon.

Hey @valvesoftware.com, would love to see hardware launches use Steam account standing (playtime, library, account age) to invite longtime users first before going wide. Would go a long way toward keeping stock out of scalper hands and in the hands of actual players.

Hey @valvesoftware.com please don't turn gaming into a class system, especially for hardware releases (Deck and Machine) that are aimed at getting more people into PC gaming. Limits like this would be far worse than what scalpers are doing.

You think giving invested players a guaranteed first chance to buy something they want is “far worse” than scalpers doubling the price and making the price inaccessible to a big share of the player base? Is there a gas leak in your house? Go look at the EBay listings for the Steam controller.

Yes, gatekeeping and elitism are pretty bad things. The best solution is being open with restocks and allowing pre-orders of those restocks, something Valve could have done before orders went live. Scalpers are often part of the marketing strategy - they're great for hype - so they chose not to.

This all feels very weird and scalper coded, no thanks.
