Political campaigns can see whether you voted in every single election going back years and years. When you do not vote, they know, and the message that sends - the *ONLY* message that sends, ever, to any campaign - is that you are less worth targeting in future campaigns.

Nobody is looking at "Bob stayed home in 2024 because of Gaza/healthcare/Biden's age/whatever". They are cutting a turf of their target voters based on a few metrics that select for hundreds or thousands of people, and "voted in the last three elections" is a standard criterion.

I checked my voter status last week to make sure I'm still viable... I know I can pretty much look up anyone else in the database to see their affiliation. I've done it before to check on a candidate's Party in non-partisan races. I also noticed I've voted 23 times in the past 25 years.

Bad news, the voter targeting universe is completely separate from the digital targeting universe (which in most campaigns almost entirely means fundraising churn'n'burn) in almost every campaign so that won't help at all unfortunately lol

Spam laws in the US are too loose, it's just way too useful to try blasting every possible email address with money requests. Really good campaigns will cross reference DVC with digital and segment accordingly but most campaigns will just blast'em, especially the kind of campaign that buys lists
