The Game Boy Color remake of Donkey Kong Country (known as Donkey Kong 2001 in Japan) was shown off at Space World 2000, so that's likely what the costumed Diddy and Donkey Kong were promoting! The biggest DK-related Space World 2000 mystery concerns Diddy Kong Pilot.

Diddy Kong Pilot officially debuted at E3 2001, but the bizarre early build of the game with Super Mario characters has been referred to as footage from Space World 2000. That was nine months before E3 2001. No contemporary sources reference Diddy Kong Pilot ACTUALLY appearing at Space World 2000.

Diddy Kong Pilot WAS at Space World 2001, but that was a tweaked version of its E3 build from that May, likely where the debuting Redneck Kong was replaced with Candy... with nary a plumber or princess in sight. The game would be reworked with a new roster one more time before becoming Banjo-Pilot.
