It's NOT paid DRM. It's just "regular" DOUBLE ONLINE ACCOUNT DRM for LOCAL co-op. What a relief, right? Wonder if it dawned on them while writing this clarification how ridiculous that still sounds.

I'm pretty sure they are doing all this on purpose, to tank the PS5 sales so that they can use at as an excuse to stop making ports again. Either that or they're just Microsoft, continuously shooting themselves in the foot for the lols.

Forcing someone to join your ecosystem to play the game they purchased the way they want for another platform won’t backfire at all. I still haven’t purchased an Epic game since they pulled Rocket League for sale from Steam

I’m pretty sure they’re referring to the fact that all local co-op games on PlayStation require you to join via a second PlayStation account in the same way that turning on your PlayStation requires you to sign into your PlayStation account, not a paid multiplayer subscription

I mean, you can't turn a PlayStation controller on without being prompted to sign in - it does let you act as a just-for-that-session guest without needing an account though.
