If we don't make a stand now, it's over! Plain and simple. Sony attacks a core element of video game culture by killing physical media. It will hurt retailers, creators, media, developers, loyal fans, and casual players alike. Nobody wins! Which side of history will you be on?

I'm almost exclusively a PC gamer. Physical media for PCs hasn't been a thing for around a decade. I have a Switch too, and I've never bought physical media for that either. I'm kinda wondering what the fuss is.

The (slightly misguided IMO) fuss is about ownership. You should be able to get the game and use it without having to contact any external service that might (and most likely will) get taken down or changed. Discs are the closest there is to that on consoles.

On PC you have options where you buy digitally. On consoles you don't. Your stuck with the vendor's store-front. In Sony's case it is a hellscape of bad practices, predatory pricing and zero customer rights. As opposed to buying physically, which in terms of legal ownership beats GabeSoft to a pulp.

PC is an open platform with many different stores to choose from. Also, stores like GOG exist where you truly buy games and don’t have to rely on servers still being up in order to download an already bought game again. Also, community can make games accessible again. Not possible on consoles
