these protests are not gonna work unless they are continuous every day.

Damn, I wish they hadn't chosen the 4th. I understand why, but there are those of us for whom this will pose a HUGE dilemma in which we will either have to skip this one to participate in family vacation or party plans, or participate and fly in the face of a lot of people's expectations/plans.

I myself have already made a commitment to travel to visit a friend for the holiday. She is of like political mind, but she's not the protesting type and won't understand me crapping out on these plans to protest instead. Also, despite our position, we still celebrate the ideals of the 4th.

I think my only chance of salvaging this is to try to get her to protest with me for a couple of hours, then travel to our holiday site. Because if it creates a rift between us, it will also ruin vacation plans for the following week.
