I have lost all enthusiasm for reading about new software projects, especially dealing with vintage computing. What would have sounded amazing a year or two ago and made me want to engage with the author, I now just assume was something AI spit out and feels hollow and boring so I skim past it.

This exactly. I used to have a strong passion for writing software but it's basically dead now. I've seen too many people try to pass off Claude-written code as their own, and it's simply humiliating to me.

Part of the fun always was making it yourself. You used to be able to see a bit of the developer in their projects. And now it's just... one "guy" ghostwriting everything you see nowadays. At least AI written code still has painfully obvious dead giveaways.
