This is so funny. Amazon is desperately trying to shove generative AI into Alexa for no reason other than the fact they want to charge money for it. We don't need another Alexa, but they're doing it anyway. The only problem? The generative ai Alexa is absolute dogshit. I love living in the future!

www.tomshardware.com/tech-industr... I dunno, AI seems to be going exactly as well as could be expected. I’m sure people will be lining up to pay for what basically amounts to a seventeen year old black-pilled 8-kun user sitting in an energy-drink littered basement north of Kansas City somewhere.

tomshardware.comGemini AI tells the user to die — the answer appeared out of nowhere when the user asked Google's Gemini for help with his homeworkLet’s be happy it doesn’t have access to nuclear weapons at the moment.

Isn't the entire point of Alexa to harvest data they can use to effectively market to you? They've already conned people into paying for the hardware to allow them to do this, and now they want people to pay a sub for the benefit of gifting high-quality preference data to Amazon?!

Same thing with Gemini replacing google assistant on pixels. Assistant was perfect! Y'all did it-- you created a near seamless interactive product that was helpful across your entire ecosystem! Now I'm sitting there watching a loading graphic just to not have Spotify open the third time I ask

We really are in the Pets dot com era of AI with people throwing random shit at the wall. Things will be a lot more "interesting" in a decade or two when they get a better handle on what sticks.

There was a story on NPR today about Spotify's AI Dj, and it made my soul explode. Why are we doing this? How many actual people could Spotify afford to hire to do voicework and analysis for curated playlists? What are we fucking doing anymore?
