Tom and I were both bitten by the same UK publisher’s collapse. It is maddening to have all the brain cycles you want to use for creating things taken up by paperwork and bureaucracy.

I felt furious at the money and hard work that had been taken from me. But I also felt furious at the fact that, by saddling me with so much admin - online and not online - to do in order to recover and survive, Unbound had also robbed me of what I felt would have been a rich creative period.

Utterly maddening. And even when everything was collapsing I could never have even part-anticipated how much valuable creative space that would strip me of. You end up realising, "This is my life, it doesn't last long, and you've stolen a sizeable chunk of it from me with your lies & incompetence."
