One issue: the current requirement (glibc 2.29+ via a native SQLite dependency) puts it beyond the reach of most standard shared hosting environment and will be a real obstacle to wider adoption, especially among the small business and agency users WordPress has traditionally served.

Plugin isolation is an interesting direction. The practical test will be how its permission model handles the long tail of plugins and existing site workflows.
