I think it’s important to remember itch is a platform where they give the option to devs to give itch as low as a 0% cut of revenue. This isn’t greed. This is payment processors trying to decimate the livelihoods of artists. There’s no alternative to itch if it goes under.

Itch is far from perfect, and this is extremely disappointing to say the least, but it’s not like there’s another better or more ethical platform to go to if it’s gone. That’s what makes this kind of catastrophic for nsfw artists and devs—there’s not many more havens left.

I also want to be clear here that I don’t think that itch are the “good guys” here or the victims in this scenario. I’m simply trying to point out that this is very far reaching issue and itch is one of the least powerful actors involved. Also that there isn’t a lot of places left to host this work!

Related: I wonder if there will be a schism in the community. If you stay on itch, you’re bad. Not extreme enough… and will get the fuck you treatment from some quarters. First substack, then drive thru, now itch I’m lost dude

I kind of doubt it just because there is no alternative really. I am seeing some posts that indicate some people expect everyone to move off of itch and boycott it over this but like…and go where?
