Reupping this thread because I'm not sure who convinced a bunch of Democrats that the way out of authoritarianism is to concede on EQUAL RIGHTS, but I can *promise* that it won't work. It never has.

If folks in the Democratic party cannot find it within themselves to be absolute staunch supporters of trans people's rights because trans people are people who have inherent worth, then they should at least do it because if we give up on trans people, then we're literally giving up on democracy.

Centrists enjoy losing. That's all I got. If they lose and are in the minority, they don't actually have to do anything. They can just keep doing NOTHING.

You can have capitalism and regulation. You can have capitalism and equal rights. See, e.g., EVERYWHERE. What you can't have is oligarchy and regulation. Oligarchy and equal rights.

That is a lie. The New Deal relied heavily on exploited women and minorities, prison labor, and the global south. Exporting your pollution and exploitation does not make it go away. Capitalism is a cancer of exploitation. It does not function otherwise. It will always seek corruption.
