a fun fact about the bavarian beer purity law reinheitsgebot— it technically only allows barley, hops, yeast and water. but lager yeast colonies can be stimulated with zinc and instead of adding it as an adjunct heineken brews in galvanized steel which leeches Zn into the wort (not an ingredient 😉)

if you want to tell me European food tastes better (unless you're a British slop pusher ) whatever I don't care but the smugness about their food supply chain is insufferable. nestle-one of the most evil corporations in history-is european as hell

love people listing off the names of antibiotics and hormones as a "that sounds scary" tactic for morons; like farmers are injecting organic molecules into a cow that are never metabolized and just accumulate unused in the cow's tissues... And it gives you gay 5g cancer when you eat a steak

I audited an oil/bulk terminal in New Jersey that had a glycol food grade storage tank. It was also Kosher grade so a rabbi would also come and audit the big white storage tank. Was out there when he was taking a look, wearing an orange hard hat, his beard and black frock flopping in the wind.

My dad is a PhD and he told me the best way to argue something post unsourced screenshots. Anyways, US food safety incident rates are higher because we track them better and when methodologies are normalized that difference goes away, here's the DOI reference: bmjopengastro.bmj.com/content/10/1...

pretending like the US regulatory state has always been bad and ineffective on a comparative basis is a permission structure for trump to continue to gut it. I shan't allow it

There are fundamental differences between the US and EU regulatory framework. There is no US equivalent to EUs REACH act. Thus imo. it is right to claim that EUs regulatory state regarding chemicals especially in food is fundamentally better. 1/3

The main difference is that any Company introducing any chemical needs to proof that it is safe in its context. The burden of proof is on the manufacturer. Your food is carcinogenic in California, here, it's just not for sale. Pretending otherwise is cope, sry. 2/3

REACH includes basically ALL industrial chemicals AND anything that gets into end-use somewhere. Some regulation is just different because of circumstance but quite a bit is just not good enough in the US. There is a reason why egg prices exploded in the US. (Bird-flu is not an US-only problem)
