Most of humanity is frustratingly unwilling to do anything that may cause any friction, even when inaction is causing more grief in the long term. Rather complain about a product than stop buying it. Rather moan about ads than take 60 seconds to install an adblocker. Rather be mad at a platform...

Also, straight up, fuck the implication that corporate = fully functioning. Plenty of better sites were lost by people jumping on the bandwagon of whichever site had the most social cachet.
