First-past-the-post is fueling our unity crisis, turning regions into one-party strongholds. Proportional representation would end this toxic cycle and give everyone a voice, whether you’re an Alberta Liberal, Toronto Conservative, or Quebec federalist. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic...

Start with Ranked Choice Voting so MPs are elected with a broader consensus among voters. Save proportional realigning of parliament and changing the purpose of elections until later.

Any system built solely on single-member ridings, ranked or not, still creates disproportional outcomes and single-party regional sweeps. To ensure every vote actually counts toward parliament and stop regions from becoming one-party monoliths, we need proportional representation from day one.

We recommend systems like Single Transferable Vote or Open List MMP where voters directly choose local and regional candidates, no closed party lists. First-past-the-post actually hurts local voices by flattening our regions into one-party monoliths. www.fairvote.ca/introprsyste...
