Had a blast talking about web animations to our local web-/app dev community at the recent programmier.bar meetup. Its a broad topic covering CSS/Javascript anims, render-pipeline, third party libraries/ tools (@rive.app) and also our workflow at @lotum.com a.o.

My college's original presentation introduced some 'arguments' against animations he kept hearing over the years and we decided to tackle these 'reasons against animations' both from a design and a developer perspective.

I made some cartoon versions of us using Rive and while you might be able to see I'm not a designer myself 😅 the point was to show that the tool is intuitive enough for devs to do cool stuff with it too and gives us a nice 'middleground' increasing both the design's independence and possibilities

Ultimately of course all arguments can be resolved in favor of our designer who wants to have great animations in our app 😎

Also worth mentioning: This was sort of like a dev perspective reaction presentation to my designer college's presentation 'your UI is dead - make it alive' and we showed both those presentations at the meetup.
