It's a bit awkward seeing people dunking on tiktok users and acting like they're being overdramatic when Those same people were... I don't know, acting a certain kind of way about having to rebuild here after leaving Twitter Which was also a much different scenario than what's happening to tiktok

A lot of the takes are clearly from people who never used the app or barely used it, since the consensus from them tends to be "it's just brain rot dance memes" And, it's really not, and maybe that's actually a reflection of what kind of stuff you sought on there.

A lot of different experiences to be had. A lot of educators. a LOT of activists. People who really know their shit. Dara Starr Tucker, Levert the Bassman, EVN the Bioethicist, Cannon's Fodder, Crime Pays but Botany Doesn't, Mercury Stardust, Pearlmania500, etc. etc. A lot of perspectives

And yeah, there were definitely issues with algorithm suppression just like on every other app, but it was at least a tool outside the Meta and Google monopoly. I don't know if folks grasp how vital that is right now. Anyhow.
