It’s true women are usually more religiously active, therefore more likely to influence in terms of church culture laden morality. There are also a lot of open tactics of manipulation (be the neck that makes the head kind of shit). But the interplay between sexes is more complicated than all that.

I get why some folks miss it, but women are the majority in Christian fundamentalist denominations, and in a lot of cases are the “intellectual” backbone for a lot of conservative men.

I really don’t know a lot of situations where conservative women are the *intellectual* backbone of any relationship (most especially not when it’s deserved). I just want to check this because “bad women influencing neutral men” is a a bullshit way to explain why white men have shit politics.

I am sure social media intake and influences have warped a lot of these dynamics! But in most conservative communities men still hold the cards and women try to figure out how to work around that, which can lead to very toxic patterns, but it doesn’t change the patriarchal nature of the subculture.

I think there are A LOT of nasty white conservative women. There’s reasons why they are that way, ranging from the coerced or indoctrinated to the proudly bigoted and ignorant. That doesn’t excuse the choices made by the men in their lives or diminish the privileges men hold in those communities.
