the best things start out with inquisitiveness i didn’t even consider doing software engineering as a career when i started building websites, just fell into it after tinkering with yet another side project

This is how Smart Bear started. It was a project to learn .NET (this was 2002) and to play with visualizations of version control history (just because I liked it). Turns out Code Review was the business (required a pivot), but started with a project.
